Bird
It has been a few mornings now that I found her first,
a young female blackbird.
Sitting quietly by a blossom of a pale yellow
rose growing in a large terracotta pot by my door.
I sat on the landing, and the two of us were
quiet together for a little while.
This morning I found her on the edge of my balcony.
She stayed long enough to let me watch her digging dew-glistening dirt with the tip of her beak.
As if to say — I know you are here. So am I.
